Picture yourself constructing a house. One would not necessarily leave out putting a door in, would they? Likewise, constructing a website, it is best to include accessibility. Accessibility to a website means ensuring that websites are usable by all people, including individuals with disabilities. It is like the concept of including a ramp, in addition to a stairway; it provides access to everyone.
The Need for Accessibility: Consider the situation. There may be individuals with problems seeing, hearing, or being able to use a mouse. If a website is inaccessible, they are unable to use it. This is comparable to the scenario of a house with no door. Accessibility is all about giving everyone equal access to information and services on the web. It is not a polite courtesy; it is in many cases a law requirement, but more so, it is an ethical imperative. WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. They may be considered the rulebook for building accessible websites. They are akin to building codes for the internet. WCAG provides a set of guidelines, in addition to recommendations, that developers can follow to make their website accessible. These guidelines are internationally recognized.
Website Accessible: Use alt text for images alt text is a description of an image that screen readers can read aloud to people who cannot see the image. It is like having someone describe the picture for you. Clear headings help people understand the structure of the website. They are like signposts in a building, guiding people where to go. Enough colour contrast is when the colour of the text is clearly different from the colour of the background. It is similar to writing with a black pen on white paper. Captions and written videos can assist individuals who are unable to hear the audio or who prefer to read along.

Testing Website: Once we make our website accessible to all, we need to test it. There are web tools that you can utilize to assist you in locating accessibility issues on your website. We can also have individuals with disabilities test your website and give us their feedback.
